We now have a new world record breaker in our midst after balloon modeller Ryan Tracey set a new Guinness World Record on Britain’s Got Talent last Saturday night. In this week’s Big Interview, Claire Martin speaks to the 35-year-old Omagh man who runs ‘Duff Balloons,’ a balloon modelling company for children’s parties and events, about his record-breaking success which saw him create five balloons in just 61 seconds. And the feat was accomplished with Ryan blindfolded – what an achievement!
This week’s edition also features a host of pictorials and stories of recent events around the district as well as our regular columnists on a range of themes and topics.
P7 pupils from St Mary’s PS, Killyclogher gave families and friends a treat last week with their end-of-term production of ‘The Little Mermaid.’
And down at the Folk Park, Uncle Hugo was joined by a host of legends from the world of country music for a live outside broadcast of his popular lunchtime show on Radio Ulster.
The award-winning Loreto choir put on a performance, under the baton of conductor Gerard Bradley, for family members and senior citizens from the area.
And St Lawrence’s PS choir from Fintona were toasting their success this week after coming tops in the BBC ‘Choir of the Year’ finals.
We hear from Omagh man Paddy Hunter who has been spearheading a revival in interest of the Brook Street of yesteryear through his newly-launched Facebook page.
Meanwhile, two Tyrone gardens are open to the public this weekend on behalf of the National Trust. Visitors are welcome at the gardens of Sir Bob and Lady Salisbury and The Henderson Garden at Newtownstewart.
This week also we take trip around the multitude of stalls that make up the Variety Market which runs every Monday at Omagh Showgrounds on the Drumquin Road. Our photographers have been out and about at the Naughty and Nice Coffee Morning and Craft Fair at RG Fitness in Carrickmore and also the Six County Tractor Trek. There’s also photos galore from Clanabogan Bowling Club’s annual awards night and the ‘Save Billy II’ country concert in the Mellon Country Hotel.
